Safe Places

Phillips & Son, Birmingham 064

£0.00 GBP

Restored to a customers specification.

Picked form our stock the customer asked us to come up with a design from his brief. After various versions we came up with this stunning design. We agreed to keep the safe vintage black, add pearl green panels with a dark green pattern. All edges are then feathered to give a vintage look. The customer wanted to add Rolex theme and his family name. We also added his fathers signature on the inside of the doors. Inside we finished the safe off with classic red suede material.

This Phillips & Son safe is a gem, as it has two brass Coat of Arms and radial plaques around the escutcheons. This safe also has a decorative trim on the front makes the safe stand out from others. Now it has its new colour scheme, i think this is one special safe, and all ready for another 100years.

History: Phillips & Son was a historic lock and safe manufacturer based in Birmingham, England, active since at least the mid-19th century. The company is known to have been producing safes and locks from around 1850, becoming well established in the Victorian era. By the early 20th century, they operated from Speedwell Works, Birmingham, and later from 130 Sherborne Street, Birmingham.
Their safes were handcrafted and often featured advanced locking mechanisms for their time. One notable example is a safe door mechanism incorporating the Cotterill Climax detector lock, dated around 1870. The company’s products were recognised for quality and security, with many safes still in existence today, especially those made during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Phillips & Son continued to manufacture safes under the “Bulldog Safes” brand as late as 1938, reflecting their longevity and reputation in the industry. Their safes are now collectible antiques, valued for their craftsmanship and historical significance

Please note: Safes of this age, approximately 100years old will show signs of their age and build, even after our restoration. We believe each safe has its own character, and thats what makes them special.  If you purchase one of our safes, its not a NEW safe, they were built without modern tools,  you will see imperfections, ie. the hinges are metal on metal (no bearings) so they may squeak and some may scratch some paintwork at the bottom hinge.

Please get in touch for pricing on this safe. Prices vary depending on the design chosen.
