What a very rare safe....in the UK. These are commonly found and very popular in the USA. This one has been in the UK a long time and we got this one from a family who were moving and had no space for it and we knew this could be somebody's dream safe. To buy a unrestored Mosler in the USA and then ship to the UK will cost you a small fortune, so if your looking for a antique combination safe, this is the one.
When i do shop safes (for the website) i always push the limits on whats we can do. This one has our classic vintage black base colour, then its had a new metallic dark green paint applied to the panels which looks almost black until light hist it and POP.....its reflects back beautifully. On top of that it has a very intricate pattern and then feather edges. Once thats all done we apply the gold detailing and logos. Its looks stunning.
History: Mosler Safe Company was originally founded in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1867 by Gustave Mosler and Fred Bahmann as Mosler, Bahmann & Company. After Gustave Mosler’s death in 1874, the Mosler family left to form Mosler Safe & Lock Company, which became the core of what is now known as Mosler Safe Company. The company relocated to Hamilton, Ohio, in 1891 and remained there until its bankruptcy in 2001.
Mosler became a multinational manufacturer, producing some of the most secure safes and bank vaults in the world, with notable contracts including the gold vault at Fort Knox and the vault for the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence. The company’s products were renowned for their strength and precision, and Mosler established a strong reputation for security equipment globally.
While Mosler operated internationally, including likely having offices or distributors in major cities like New York and London to serve large clients, its main manufacturing and headquarters were always in the United States—first in Cincinnati, then Hamilton, Ohio. There is no record of Mosler being headquartered in New York or London. However, as a major international security company, Mosler’s safes and vaults were installed in banks and institutions worldwide, including in these cities.
In summary, Mosler Safe Company was a leading American manufacturer of safes and vaults with a global reach, but its main historical presence was in Ohio, not New York or London. Its products, however, were used internationally, including in New York and London financial institutions.

Please note: Safes of this age, approximately 100years old will show signs of their age and build, even after our restoration. We believe each safe has its own character, and thats what makes them special. If you purchase one of our safes, its not a NEW safe, they were built without modern tools, you will see imperfections, ie. the hinges are metal on metal (no bearings) so they may squeak and some may scratch some paintwork at the bottom hinge.
