Lopes & Araujo, Portugal 056

£0.00 GBP

This is a 19th century Portuguese safe Lopes & Araujo, the brass plaque on the top plinth reads "Lopes & Araujo Successor Francisco Carlos Lopes 71-rua da Assumpcao Lisboa". We found this in an auction and it was looking a bit tatty, but we knew it could looks amazing when restored.

A customer picked the safe and commissioned us to come up with a design that suited the safes history. We agreed to keep the safe vintage black and just use a very decorative gold design. Inside we went with the classic deep red suede for the wow factor. The safe came out far nicer than i ever expected, however at a great cost. The work we put into this safe was enormous, but we persevered and achieved the end result.

The safe is bolted to the wooden base plinth and has a matching wooden plinth on top to give this safe its special appearance. What makes this safe stand outs is the lock mechanism, its has 3 brass dials which you must align to a specific combination before the key will turn in the lock. there is also a small lockable drawer in the bottom wooden base plinth.
