History: John Tann’s Reliance safes were a notable product line from the historic London-based safe manufacturer John Tann, established over 185 years ago and trusted internationally for security. The company, originally operating from addresses like 11 Newgate Street, London, produced robust safes such as the “Reliance” model, which are now considered vintage collectibles. These safes were typically made from heavy cast iron and designed for both security and fire resistance, reflecting the high standards of late 19th and early 20th-century British safe manufacturing.
The “Reliance” safes often featured the company’s name embossed on a metal plate attached to the safe door, and they were recognized for their durability and craftsmanship. Today, these safes are valued by collectors and can be found in antique shops or online marketplaces, where their age, condition, and provenance add to their appeal.
