A nice small safe by J Cartwright, well made and comes with original key. This safe has a brass fist door handle which you usually find on S.Withers safes, combine the handle with the large round plaque and this safe would look stunning when restored.

History: J. Cartwright & Son of West Bromwich was a prominent manufacturer of iron safes in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The company was established in 1844 by John Cartwright and operated from the Phoenix Works on Roebuck Street, West Bromwich. The firm became known for producing robust, fireproof safes, which are still found as antiques today, often bearing plaques stating “J. Cartwright & Son, West Bromwich, Est. 1840” or “Established 1844”.
