These are lovely special boxes. This one is the same as the others we've had but slightly larger. We restored a couple of them now and the finished items were stunning. They are very well made, solid and strong with lovely brass handles on each side. Made by Hobbs & Co you know the quality is high..
This box was chosen from our 'awaiting restoration' stock and commissioned by the customer as a special gift. We came up with a design scheme around Louis Vuitton which complimented the box's original lines. Inside we used a tan colour to compliment the LV brand colours. We even sourced a leather close as we could to the LC brown for the journal cover.
History: Hobbs & Co. was a prominent London-based manufacturer established in 1851 by American locksmith Alfred Charles Hobbs. The company gained fame following the Great Exhibition of 1851, where Hobbs famously picked the previously "unpickable" Bramah and Chubb locks, securing a massive reputation and capital for his own venture.
