Hobbs & Co late 1800's Large Writing Cash box 114

£0.00 GBP

These are lovely special boxes. We restored one a year ago and the finished item was stunning. We found another in similar condition which is perfect for another beautiful restoration. They are very well made, solid and strong with stunning brass handles on each side. Made by Hobbs & Co you know the quality is high.

Our thought is to design this one to a customers exact spec. The exterior and interior can be any colour or design. We will restore this box to the same standard as No065 We can replace the lost leather notebook which fits into the lid, and add lined or blank refill booklets.

All combined it makes for an amazing piece of rare furniture, which would look wonderful on any home or high end office desk.

The box has slightly different tray with a lockable cash box, one inkwell and a leather journal with slips into the box lid. Each lock has two keys and we also add small rubber feet to prevent the bottom being scratched.

We have added a couple of quick designs to give you an idea of what this little gem could look like after a restoration, maybe add company logo of your initials to the top making it truly unique.

History: Hobbs & Co. was a prominent London-based manufacturer established in 1851 by American locksmith Alfred Charles Hobbs. The company gained fame following the Great Exhibition of 1851, where Hobbs famously picked the previously "unpickable" Bramah and Chubb locks, securing a massive reputation and capital for his own venture.
