We have added a couple of designs to give you an idea of what this safe could look like after a restoration.
History: Herring-Hall-Marvin Safe Co. was a major safe maker with roots in Ohio, and its Hamilton plant became one of the best-known industrial sites in the city. The company formed in 1892 from the merger of several safe businesses, and by 1896 it had built a large factory in Hamilton, which was long nicknamed the “Safe Capital of the World.”
The company’s Ohio history is centered in Hamilton, where it operated a large facility at 1550 Grand Boulevard. That plant later became known as the Hamilton, Ohio, Site and was used during the 1940s and early 1950s for uranium machining under wartime government contracts.
Earlier predecessor firms such as Hall’s Safe & Lock Co. in Cincinnati helped establish Ohio as a center for safe manufacturing. In 1892, five firms merged to create the Herring-Hall-Marvin Company, which grew into one of the largest safe and vault manufacturers in the world.
