This is a larger size safe which has a round edge profile on all sides which gives the safe a softer look. We designed the safe to the customers specification. The brief was to keep it simple and elegant. We finished the inside is in a Mustard suede for a wow factor and we've added a 8mm glass shelf.
History: E. Hipkins & Co. was a safe manufacturer based at Kateshill Works in Dudley, England, active from at least the 1870s through the late Victorian and early Edwardian periods. The company produced steel plate safes, which were marketed as fire-resisting but were considered third-tier in the hierarchy of British safe makers of the era. This means their safes were generally designed to protect against fire rather than sophisticated burglary attempts, which was typical for smaller firms in the Birmingham and Black Country area.
E. Hipkins & Co. safes are recognised by their distinctive brass plaques or badges, often reading “E Hipkins & Co. Kateshill Works Dudley”. These safes were made in various sizes and styles, including the “Inflexible” model, and were typically equipped with traditional locking mechanisms and keys. The company’s products are now valued as collectible antiques, appreciated for their craftsmanship and historical significance

Please note: Safes of this age, approximately 100years old will show signs of their age and build, even after our restoration. We believe each safe has its own character, and thats what makes them special. If you purchase one of our safes, its not a NEW safe, they were built without modern tools, you will see imperfections, ie. the hinges are metal on metal (no bearings) so they may squeak and some may scratch some paintwork at the bottom hinge.
