Safe Places

Stephen Cox & Son, Sedgley 078

£0.00 GBP

Restored to a customers specification

The customer like a previous design we did and wanted something with a bit more wow factor, so we put patterns on all sides. They picked a safe from our stores and we created various designs before they chose this one. Whats slightly different is a lighter colour pattern on the sides and top but darker pattern on the front, which has turned out really nice. A simple Rolex ghosted logo added on the top and sides with a classic gold Rolex on the front. The customers wanted to add their own personal quote on the inside of the door.

This is a popular size safe. This has nice brass especially the Escutcheon, and all in its original state.

We have added a couple of designs to give you an idea of what this little gem could look like after a restoration.

History: Stephen Cox and Son was a British safe manufacturing company established in 1890 at Dudley Road Safe Works, Sedgley, England. The firm produced a wide range of safes, including free-standing models, bank strong rooms, fire-resistant cabinets, strong room doors, and floor and wall safes. The company was listed in trade directories as early as 1896 and remained active well into the 20th century.
Stephen Cox and Son safes were notable for their robust construction and the use of brass safe locks, many of which were supplied by C.H. Buggins of Willenhall. The company was a significant customer for Buggins, whose locks were made in various lever sizes and configurations, contributing to the security and reputation of Cox safes.
Stephen Cox and Son continued trading until recent decades, with some sources noting their presence at Pensnett Trading Estate, Brierley Hill, by 1972. The company went into receivership in 1982.

Please note: Safes of this age, approximately 100years old will show signs of their age and build, even after our restoration. We believe each safe has its own character, and thats what makes them special.  If you purchase one of our safes, its not a NEW safe, they were built without modern tools,  you will see imperfections, ie. the hinges are metal on metal (no bearings) so they may squeak and some may scratch some paintwork at the bottom hinge.
